Second Classroom

Students using Virtual Worlds

Last weekend, Kevin Jarret, Jo Kay and myself took some of the teachers from Will Richardson and Sheryl Nasbaumm-Beach's Powerful Learning Practice into Jokaydia for a first look at 3D worlds.

I am always interested to hear what people think, especially as PLP is firmly entrenched in the use of Elluminate as it's synchronous learning environment. Perhaps the most striking comment was "I feel so much more connected to everyone, it's weird, but this so much more real".

The trip was just an hour, and we really only had a short time to show them some of the basics and hand out some freebies, I am really getting to like working with KJ on projects in Virtual Worlds, and as ever Jo's Islands run smoothly and so well thought out.

There are regular Noobie events on Jokaydia, so please drop in and say hello.

You need to look at something other than Second Life Stacy. Teen Grid is 13-18 - I suggest you look at Quest Atlantis for that age range, if you don't have resources/program to teach yet. Alternatively you might look at a game - as at that age the...
