I completed my
Quest Atlantis teacher training in November, 2008, and our school has been officially participating in the program since the start of 2009. Quest Atlantis has far exceeded the expectations of our staff and students.
Our school's Quest Atlantis blog can be found at
http://myquestatlantis.edublogs.org/The success of Quest Atlantis led me to look further into other virtual worlds, especially those suitable for our older students in the 13 and over age group. After exploring a number of different options, including Teen Second Life, I am currently conducting more detailed research into the possibility of a public space on
ReactionGrid and also a private space managed by ReactionGrid. This space actually uses the
OpenSim platform and will offer us great flexibility with our virtual worlds program.
A introductory post about the beginning of this project can be found on
my blog.
We have a new blog, that will be used to document our Begonia Island OpenSim Project, located at
http://begoniaisland.edublogs.org/I am *loving* exploring virtual worlds like Second Life for staff and student use. Participating in "in world" Professional Development such as sessions offered by ISTE, have been an exciting and worthwhile experiences.
